RACING RECAP – WEEK ENDING – APRIL 16 2016

TOOWOOMBA:
RACE 3 – BROOKLYN STORM –
Went straight to the front and just dusted opposition. Heavily backed late and dutifully won by 5.5L in quick time.
Race 5 – TOO GOOD TO REFUSE –
Showed his class to come from well back on a track that was hard to make ground. When & If Eagle Farm is ready he may well turn into a nice Qld. Derby horse.
Race 6 – TRUBIA
Returned a big winner and settled just off the speed, accelerated quickly halfway down the straight to take care of his rivals. Unsure of target race but just keep backing him.

SYDNEY :
RACE 2 – AMMARITA –
Liked the way she hit the line running away from her opposition first up ( 34.23). Wasn’t well weighted or race fit but took care of some good horses. A filly & Mares race during the Qld Carnival is waiting for her. She is just so consistent.
Race 7 – ENGLISH
She was just excellent. Thought the 1400m at this level against the boys for a 3yr old filly would be tough but she was super and the stable has her ready for an assault on the Brissy sprints. Also thought Kermadec was great in a 1400m race last 600 in 34.18.

MELBOURNE:
RACE 4 – ZEBRINZ
Carted wide throughout but just kept finding something against a leader biased track- Wasn’t well weighted against a horse like Red Bomber who was too strong to the finish and himself 3 wide.
Race 5 – TARQUIN
With an easy lead and the rail out Bengal Cat was too good ( SA Oaks a big chance ). However TARQUIN had everything go against him but had the best last 600 and is a genuine black booker and horse to stick with.
Race 6 – ALMIGHTY GIRL
Just got held up at about the 3000m and only beaten 1.7L but still very good turn of foot once she got going. Also thought Jalan Jalan was brave leading them up & stuck on well.
Race 7 – ADIRONDACK
Hard name to cheer for but really don’t let this bloke get away from you. When challenged at 350-400 by Firehouse Rock he just knuckled down and put 3L on him easily. He does seem to be a horse that can grind out good sectionals but also has a bit of turn of foot. Really impressive horse.

ADELAIDE:
RACE 2 – HIGH CHURCH
I Know he was a strong favourite but he won like a good horse. He’s coming along so well, carried 58.5 against some good opposition and being from High Chaparral if ever it rains just get on. Maybe spring for him.

THE LAST WORD

Glad to see Waller & connections have retired Press Statement – he was disappointing against English and looked like a stallion with other things on his mind. Fantastic horse for the boxers..

We have mentioned on our Facebook blog just how impressive Raw Impulse was at Moonee Valley last month.
Hugh Bowman couldn’t believe how easily he won beating nice types Betterland & Into the mist – he just strolled past them. He is nominated at Caulfield on Saturday so hopefully he treats us to similar and gets the chocolates. The Boxers will definitely be on.

Happy Punting and thanks for the support
